From Tired to Timeless: Hampshire Home Improvements Transforms Conservatory with ILite Orangery and S1 Roof Lantern

Project Overview

The homeowners, Mr and Mrs Stray, owned a gable-fronted polycarbonate conservatory that had gradually become unusable. The space suffered from poor insulation, making it uncomfortable during both summer and winter months.

Beyond thermal inefficiency, the space was outdated, and no longer met the couple’s lifestyle needs. Keen to breathe new life into the space, they began exploring options for a conservatory roof replacement.

After three detailed meetings with Dean, the homeowners decided to move forward with a complete transformation – opting for a modern, orangery-style extension that would not only elevate the aesthetics of their home, but also significantly improve thermal efficiency and year-round usability.

The project began with the complete removal of the existing roof, frames, and dwarf walls – creating a fresh canvas for the new build. To open up the space and create a fluid indoor-outdoor feel, the team installed two sets of striking black bi-folding doors, seamlessly connecting the new orangery to the garden.

Next came the structural upgrades. Hampshire Home Improvements installed a bespoke steel leg and right-angle head stretcher, designed specifically to support the SupaLite ILite cassette system and accommodate the structural requirements of the corner post.

With the framework in place, the team installed the SupaLite ILite Orangery System, with a durable EPDM covering, ensuring long-lasting weather protection, complete with the stunning S1 Roof Lantern, flooding the space with natural light.

To complete the transformation, the floor was over boarded ready for final flooring, while the interior was brought to life with a full electrical package, radiator, plastering, and skirting boards – ensuring the space was ready for immediate use.
